Top 5 Ways for Kids to Cool Off in Buena Park This Summer

Mom and daughter at Knott's Soak City in Buena Park, CA
As the summer heats up, cool down at some of Buena Park’s most popular attractions, restaurants and hotels. Visitors can beat the heat with everything from playful desserts and waterslides to a tropical oasis and whitewater rafting.

#1. Drop into Knott’s Soak City Waterpark
Orange County’s only waterpark is a 13-acre haven with one of the world’s longest lazy rivers, a rippling wave pool and dozens of slides. Thrill seekers can drop over 75 feet into a six-story funnel on Pacific Spin or race down a near vertical shoot on Old Man Falls. For the kids, the Beach House offers pint size slides as well as a kids only splash area. Cabanas are available to rent for up to eight people for the day. With the rental, you get a dedicated waiter, four inner tubes, and a large shaded cabana. For discounted tickets on Soak City, Click here.

#3. Rolled Ice Cream Rocks!
Ice cream's always a great and classic way to cool down, but what if we said you could roll your ice cream? Icy Cream Roll at The Source OC takes it to the next level by custom making each ice cream order in front of you. Combining all the ingredients you want onto a frozen table top, they mix the ice cream into a thin flat layer and then 'scrape' it off into a roll! You have to see it to believe it.

Calico River Rapids at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA
#4. Ride the Rapids at Knott’s Berry Farm
Calico River Rapids takes riders on a whitewater raft that spins and splashes through fast moving currents, geysers and under towering waterfalls. Be on the lookout for the legendary 'skunk ape' as you traverse these treacherous western waters at Knott's Berry Farm.

At the Timber Mountain Log Ride, visitors can experience the world’s first log ride that originally opened in 1969. The newly renovated attraction floats through a logging camp, past wild animals and down a 42-foot drop, spraying riders with water.

Mint Mojito at Portos Bakery in Buena Park, CA
#5. Take in a Flavored Mojito at Porto's Bakery
Don't Worry, mom and dad. These are non-alcoholic and family friendly! With Porto's Cuban history, swing by and pick up one of four flavored mojitos! Each one is made fresh and individually: Classic Mojito, Strawberry Mojito Fusion, Raspberry Mojito Fusion, or Passion Fruit Mojito Fusion are all fantastic treats to beat the heat. If you're looking for a great light snack to pair these non-alcoholic tart treats with, we suggest the guava cheese strudel. Parking is complimentary, but be sure to get there early, the lines can stretch out the door!
