This Way for Flavor: Our Favorite Orange County Food Trucks

If you've had the chance to experience the local food truck scene, you know that it's so much more than sandwiches. Korean BBQ burritos, over-the-top dumplings, birria tacos, and even hibachi are just a few of the local food truck options that have us lining up when hunger hits. Here are a few of our Orange County favorites:

Tacos Maggie: The carne asada tacos get top billing at this food truck that you can find on Commonwealth Ave. in Buena Park. But for true foodies, it's the fresh-made salsa roja and salsa verde that take all the menu items over the edge. Insider tip: text your order to minimize your wait time at this popular spot.

Sweet Lou's BBQ: Slow-smoked meat will bring all the neighbors out for a bite when Sweet Lou's is in town. Tri tip, BBQ ribs, pulled pork, and all your other BBQ favorites are on the menu. Save room for the sides as the mac n' cheese is over the top.

Habachihana Grill: You may not think of hibachi as a food truck-friendly option but Habachihana knows how to do it right. Go traditional with the bachi plates that serve up chicken, seafood, or beef with grilled veggies and rice. Or, opt for the portable bachi burritos that stuff it all into a burrito.

Mad Dumplings: Two college friends created these hand-folded dumplings in 2016 and fans have been obsessively following them ever since. You may know them from their Food Network win but it's their pan-seared and deep-fried dumplings that have diners coming back again and again.

Rey de la Birria: If the last few years have brought us anything positive, it's that birria tacos have become more widely available. Rey de la Birria is a local favorite in Buena Park for their birria tacos, mulitas, and don't forget the consome for dipping.

Bulgogi Truck: Korean-style rice bowls are the mainstay of this favorite food truck but adventurous eaters know that the Korean BBQ fries are where it's at. Catch the truck at breakfast time and you won't be disappointed by the breakfast burrito with Korean BBQ inside.

Afters Ice Cream: Small batches, unique flavors, and a friendly crew are what has diners singing the praises of Afters Ice Cream. The French toast churro is your new favorite dessert on a stick. Trust us.

Baby's Badass Burgers: Just like the name says, these burgers are anything but average. They use their own blend of 10 spices to make their burgers extra flavorful and juicy. Go for the bacon burger if you can handle the ½ lb. behemoth.

Sgt. Pepperoni's Pizza Truck: NY-style pizza is the name of the game at this food truck that you'll usually find near the beach. If pineapple on pizza is your jam, go for the Hawaii Five-o that has pineapple, pepperoni, ricotta, garlic, and jalapeno. It's a combo like you've never tried!

Bred's Nashville Hot Chicken: A craveable crispy chicken sandwich is the mainstay of the Bred's menu but it's the chicken and waffles that has the perfect combo of sweet and savory. Get your chicken as spicy as you want and don't skip the Comeback sauce!
